Acupuncture And Back Pain Treatment

German researchers have found out fake acupuncture can be beneficial in treating back pain. Half of the patients that received treatment using acupuncture needles recorded sustainable relief for a few months. It was a recorded that only a quarter of patients that received medication and other forms of western medical treatments were able to get some form of relief to back pains.

It was recorded that acupuncture worked better than conventional forms of care given to patients suffering from chronic back aches. This led to further investigations as to the effect of acupuncture needles in bringing relief to the problem. It has been noted that patients recorded significant relief in pain and there was reduced intensity of aches in the lower back.

There was a notable improvement in disability often associated with chronic back pain in a number of patients which led to an improvement in the quality of life. These conclusions led to findings in line with theories already established that it is possible to block pain messages to the brain by use of competing stimulus.

In the experiment needles were not inserted as deep as it is done in conventional therapy. Needles in the sham acupuncture were not inserted specifically where they are inserted in proper acupuncture therapy. Needless were left to stand still and no manual movement or rotation was done. A significant number of patients in both real and sham acupuncture recorded remarkable improvement.
