People seeking out alternative back pain remedies

People seeking out alternative back pain remediesBack pain affects millions of people each year. Many of these people look to nontraditional medicine to help them with their pain, with over 30 percent of the population requiring medical therapy from their back pain. Furthermore, over 60 percent uses nontraditional medicine to help with the pain, making it the most popular type of medical therapy that patient’s will use for their back pain.

Although most people heal their back pain with adequate rest and possibly pain medication, many experts claim that more relief may be found by using medicine, either traditional or nontraditional.

While it was commonly believed in the past that those who used nontraditional medicine to help with their back pain did not support traditional medicine, and vice versa, research has shown that views on traditional and nontraditional medicine are much more complex.

A National Health Interview Survey was conducted in 2002, and it has now been published in the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine. The results of the study showed that most people who used nontraditional therapy looked to chiropractic treatment to help them deal with their back pain.

Other forms of nontraditional therapies included herbal therapies, massage, yoga, acupuncture, and tai chi.  According to the survey, the majority of people find back pain to have the best benefits for dealing with back pain, with yoga, massages, qi gong, and tai chi all tying for second place. Many people also used traditional and nontraditional medicine together, which appears to be effective as well.
