Back pain definition

Back pain is severe pain in the back, which can have quite a few different causes.  Doctors refer to dorsalgy or low back pain / lumbago, when the lumbar sacral region is affected.

Definition

Acute back pain occurs either at first or within six months from symptoms and can last anywhere from a day up to a maximum of three months.  Back pain definitionTemporary back pain can stop for more than three months and not return again within a year.  Recurring back pain is present with more than one episode.

Chronic back pain is usually present with more than one episode of more than half the days of the year.  Lumbago is a sudden sharp pain in the back, which is triggered by stimulation of the sensory spine, i.e. the nerves that supply the spine itself – so do not provide it due to compression of the spinal nerves exiting the spine and the rest of the body.

It is an often acute onset, initially segmentally, and is usually stabbing back pain, often with a feeling of paralysis, forced posture, movement lock and splinting, and so is connected. Following a painless transition interval it is possible in a chronic form. The delineation of nerve root irritation such as sciatica is not always possible without further notice.
