Graded stabilizing exercises

graded-stabilizing-exercisesA report issued from a research conducted by the Karolinska Institute of Stockholm, stated that patients suffering from recurrent back pain improved significantly and suffered less from back pain, when they carried out graded stabilizing exercises regularly.

For eight weeks 71 patients suffering from recurrent non-specific low back pain, underwent regular graded exercises with a greater stress on balancing exercises and took regular walks every day.

The results of the research’ confirmed that patients complained less from backaches after a period of 36 months and felt encouraged by the effectiveness of the graded exercises. The graded exercises also greatly reduced pain, but only for a short period just after the exercises, and did nothing for fear-avoidance beliefs.
