Sugar Pills and Fibromyalgia

sugar-pills-and-fibromyalgiaPlacebos. Sugar pills which in reality have absolutely no medicinal value. Such pills are often given to patients suffering from fibromylgia, a type of chronic pain where patients experience fatigue and tenderness and stiffness of their bones. And it has been a proven mysterious fact that in spite of knowing, there are a large number of patients who have responded positively to placebos. Researches are still finding the exact reason of this miraculous way of treatment.

Researchers from the University of Michigan Health System have conducted a research where they have concluded that the placebo effect has been seen to be effective on people who have been experiencing extreme fluctuations in the acuteness of chronic pain.
This thought also has been supported by various renowned scientists and researchers, who include Mr. Daniel Clauw, the Director of the University of Michigan Chronic Pain and Fatigue Research Centre. He claims that patients having hourly fluctuations in their pain are most likely to be the best placebo responders.

To conduct the tests, around 125 patients were chosen. Their pain level was recorded and studied at frequent random intervals and were given the pills around three to five times per day.

Doctors have been extremely anxious to get this mystery resolved. They say that it s of utmost importance that they find out what is causing the improvement in health after taking-in the sugar pills. They say that these pills have been respondent in many other kinds of pains as well.
